Political science students are invited to explore a variety of internship opportunities in a myriad of areas in the public and private sector such as city governments, special interest groups, political parties, state or federal agencies, legislative offices, law firms and other private entities. Students may pursue opportunities outside of those provided by the Department of Politic
al Science on its website such as semester in DC and Cheyenne Legislative sessions. Students wishing to complete an internship not specified by the department are required to complete the internship contract prior to starting their internship and must have it approved by the internship coordinator.
Students, depending on the length and amount of time they wish to commit to the internship can receive up to 6 hours of internship credit through the Department of Political Science (POLS 4550). Students must also complete coursework requirement that consist of some combination of daily/weekly journal entries, work samples when appropriate and a reflection paper in order to receive course credit. Students will receive a grade of "Satisfactory" upon successful completion of all requirements.
