In Memoriam: It is with the deepest sadness that we report the passing of Maksim Yurievich Sisikin on February 11, 2017. Present from the very beginning of the Saratov-Wyoming Initiative in 1993, Maksim was a founding member of the Saratov Study Abroad Program -- his most active period with the program being during its formative years of the 1990s. Maksim perfromed every role possible wtihin the program (translator, organizer, chaperone, confidant) -- but most of all he was a true friend. A sudden heart attack took him much too early. Maksim's wide-ranging talents were not limited to scholastic pursuits alone. Within the Saratov community, and in Russia at large, Maksim was a renowned fencing master. A world champion in both fencing and sport chanbara, Maksim grew up in the world of fencing, thanks to his father, Yurii Sisikin, who was a two-time Olympic champion in the 1960s. All who knew Maksim will miss his kind spirit, generous nature, keen sense of humor, and cheerful smile.
