The Clean Coal Technologies Research Program was created in 2007 to stimulate research and development in the area of low-emissions and advanced coal technologies. In July 2012, the program was re-named the Advanced Conversion Technologies Research Program to reflect its recently-broadened scope, which now includes research on conversion of other minerals into value-added products and fuels.
The School of Energy Resources hosts an annual symposium for researchers to present the results of projects funded through the Advanced Conversion/Clean Coal Technology Fund. The symposiums are free and open to the public.
