August 10, 2011

Chad Baldwin, a native of Wyoming and graduate of the University of Wyoming, has been hired as director of Institutional Communications at UW. He will begin work Monday, Sept. 12.

Baldwin comes to UW from the Casper Star-Tribune, where he has served as editor since 2008. His award-winning newspaper career began in 1988 as a reporter at The Riverton Ranger following his graduation from UW with a B.A. in journalism. While at UW, Baldwin was editor and sports editor of The Branding Iron.

As director, Baldwin will oversee UW's communications office, which works to raise the university's profile through news stories and features, and serve as university spokesman.

"I'm excited to be a part of what I believe is Wyoming's most important institution," says Baldwin.

Born in Sweetwater County and raised in Fremont County, Baldwin also worked as editor of the Uinta County Herald in Evanston, managing editor and editor of The Ranger and city editor of The Times-News in Twin Falls, Idaho, before joining the Star-Tribune staff as state editor in 2004.

Baldwin, 46, is married with three children and one grandchild. His wife, parents and four siblings are also UW graduates.
