The University of Wyoming will play host to the 2012 Fly Fishing Symposium and Film Tour Friday, April 27.

The symposium, sponsored by the UW Fly Casters Club and the Laramie Valley Trout Unlimited chapter, is free and open to the public. All ages and skill levels are welcome to attend.

Events begin at 11 a.m. in Prexy's Pasture with a fly-casting clinic. Participants will be able to practice casting fly rods and learn from local and regional experts.

Following the fly-casting clinic, the symposium will move into the UW Berry Biodiversity Center for fly-tying demonstrations, presentations by Trout Unlimited at the local, regional and national level; and a roundtable discussion featuring local and regional fishing guides. The sessions will run from noon to 4:30 p.m.

The evening will conclude with a showing of the Fly Fishing Film Tour in the UW Education Auditorium at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. This event is sponsored by Laramie Valley Trout Unlimited and features a collection of fly-fishing videos submitted from around the world. Adult tickets for the film tour are $10 if purchased in advance at Four Seasons Anglers in west Laramie, or $12 at the door. Children and UW students get in free.

Many sponsors are supporting these two events and have donated a number of items for door prizes and a raffle, in addition to financial support and facility resources. Major sponsors include UW's Helga Otto Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources, Four Seasons Anglers of Laramie and Trout Unlimited.
