University Bookstore Changes Name in Rebranding

January 24, 2013

The University Bookstore, the University of Wyoming’s institutionally owned source for textbooks, technology, supplies and spirit since 1921, is renaming the retail entity as the University Store.

The change will affect the retail location, and all current and future online presences. The storewide conversion is expected to be complete by Jan. 31.

“Our goals for the rebranding were simple. First, we are much more than a bookstore and wanted our name to accurately reflect the broad range of services and products we make available on a daily basis. Second, we are proud to be part of UW and felt there was an opportunity to further UW’s brand with a revision to our logo,” says Misty Eaton, store manager since 2009.

“The University Bookstore has long been a fixture on campus, meeting the needs of students, faculty, staff, alumni, fans and friends for more than 90 years. This name change reflects our understanding of the dynamic environment we service and our commitment to meet these needs well into the future,” says Ed Hays, assistant store manager.

The University Store will conduct a logo and name change unveiling Jan. 31, as well as host a Laramie Area Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours gathering. The public is invited to the event at the store in the Wyoming Union from 5:30-7 p.m.

In pursuing the new brand identity, the University Store worked closely with UW Institutional Marketing, staff, students and administrators.
