Banff Mountain Film Festival at UW Feb. 20

February 11, 2013

One of the world's most prestigious mountain film festivals, the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour, will be shown Wednesday, Feb. 20, and Thursday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. in the University of Wyoming Arts and Sciences auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Sponsored by the UW Student Activities Council, “World Tour” will show short films that visit remote cultures and footage of adrenaline-packed action sports such as climbing, kayaking, mountain biking and skiing.

The Banff Mountain Film Festival, held annually in Banff, Alberta, embarks on its world tour immediately after the festival ends in November, traveling to 32 countries, reaching more than 245,000 people at more than 635 screenings worldwide. Films featured in the tour are known as the “Best of the Fest.”

The Banff Mountain Film Festival, a program of the Banff Centre, is one of the world's largest and most prestigious mountain film festivals. This year's tour features a collection of the festival's most inspiring action, environmental and adventure films.
