Social justice comedian Negin Farsad will perform her own brand of comedy at the University of Wyoming Union Ballroom Friday, Feb. 6, at 9 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Farsad was named by The Huffington Post as one of the "50 Funniest Women" in 2011. Her comedic routines feature her frank and sharp-witted views on politics, sex and her experiences navigating the cultural dynamics of her Iranian-born family. She also was selected as a TED Fellow and gave a “TED Talk” in 2013 for her work in social justice comedy.

TED (technology, entertainment and design) is a nonprofit organization devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where technology, entertainment and design converged, and today covers almost all topics -- from science to business to global issues -- in more than 100 languages.

Farsad’s appearance is part of the weekly UW Friday Night Fever program along with the Martin Luther King Jr. Days of Dialogue (MLKDOD). For a complete list of MLKDOD events Feb. 2-7, visit www.uwyo.edu/studentaff/mlkdod/.
