UW to Host Hunger Games

March 25, 2015

The popular book and movie trilogy “The Hunger Games” is coming to the University of Wyoming.

“Night in the Arena” is a Hunger Games-themed event that will include an archery battle and a movie marathon Friday, March 27, at 9 p.m. in the Wyoming Union Ballroom and Family Room.

The archery battle will be a timed game with points awarded for hitting players and knocking out targets. Real, soft-tipped arrows and bows are used to play on an inflatable bunker battlefield. For more information, visit www.laserbattle.com/archery-battle-tag, like Laser Battle on Facebook, or follow on Twitter @Laser_Battle1.

Binge Think, a Laramie-based coalition to prevent substance abuse, also will be present at the event. For more information about Binge Think, visit www.uw.laramiewellness.org/.

Friday Night Fever also will show all three “Hunger Games” movies the same night in the Wyoming Union Family Room. The first in the series, “The Hunger Games,” will be shown at 6:30 p.m., followed by “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” at 9 p.m. and “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” at 11:30 p.m.

Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth star in the series set in a dystopian future in the nation of Panem. Lawrence’s character, Katniss Everdeen, is the symbol of the rebellion who tries to save her country’s districts from the “Capitol.”
