UW Native American Students Help People Displaced by Fire

March 7, 2018

Keepers of the Fire, the University of Wyoming’s Native American student group, is doing its part to help residents of Wade’s Mobile Manor who were displaced by Monday’s fire that claimed several structures.

“Our focus, until a list of specific needs is provided, will be to collect food and toiletries,” says Vanessa Sorrels, a UW pharmacy candidate.

Donations may be dropped off at the Native American Education, Research and Cultural Center, located at 200 N. 10th St.

For more information, text Sorrels at (307) 259-9719, email vsorrels@uwyo.edu, or call Stephin Littleshield, an intern in the center, at (307) 851-9164.

The cause of the fire in west Laramie remains under investigation, but Laramie fire officials estimate that nine structures were a total loss, leaving several families displaced.
