Associate Professor Andrea Burrows, of the University of Wyoming’s College of Education, recently was selected for reappointment as the co-editor of the CITE (Contemporary Issues in Technology and Teacher Education) Journal’s Science Section. She has held this role with the journal since 2016.

“In representing the science education community on behalf of the Association for Science Teacher Education, I have the responsibility to ensure integrity and rigor in the journal articles selected for publication, and this is a great responsibility, but one that I gladly accept to serve the field,” Burrows says.

Burrows’ reappointment will begin in December and will last until December 2022. University of Cincinnati Associate Professor Helen Meyer will join Burrows in the role during the upcoming term. UW Endowed Chair of Science Education Tim Slater, who served as co-editor with Burrows beginning in 2016, will step down from the position in December.

“As editors, we obtain quality reviewers, then see the submissions through the whole publication process for the accepted research studies and theoretical articles regarding technologies in science teacher education,” Burrows says.

She will work with both experienced and new researchers from around the globe to submit articles that explore the use of innovative technology in science teacher education to the journal’s science section. She also will encourage researchers working in novel areas to submit articles as well as promote the journal as a great venue to showcase their work in the field.

“I eagerly work with the authors as long as necessary to polish and then publish the submission. I have worked with authors for a few weeks and up to a year to finalize a publication,” Burrows says.

CITE is the open-access and peer-reviewed publication of the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education and is co-sponsored by four other teacher education associations. The journal represents the best thinking of how these organizations can meet the needs of scholars in the field. The journal has been published quarterly since its inception in 2000 and has interactive capabilities that allow readers to engage with additional media such as videos or podcasts.
