UW Transportation Services to Implement Transit and Parking Changes

University of Wyoming Transportation Services has announced major changes to its transit and parking operations effective Thursday, March 19. These operational changes are precautionary measures in response to concerns regarding the novel coronavirus COVID-19.

Following campus guidelines including minimizing exposure and encouraging social distancing, Transportation Services is taking the following actions:

-- Suspension of all fixed-route transit services until further notice.

-- Implementation of an on-demand service (LaramieLink Dial-A-Ride) from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

-- Suspension of SafeRide service until further notice.

-- Temporary lifting of parking permit restrictions campuswide until further notice.

Transit Changes

Effective Thursday, March 19, regular fixed-route service on East Express, South Express, Campus Commuter and LaramieLink will be temporarily suspended until further notice.

The free on-demand LaramieLink Dial-A-Ride will be available starting Thursday from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. LaramieLink Dial-A-Ride is an on-call service that serves all of the UW campus and locations throughout Laramie such as Walmart, Ridley’s, Safeway/Planet Fitness and the downtown area. Rides can be scheduled by calling (307) 766-7433 (RIDE) or by using the TransLoc app.

Small buses and vans will be used on the dial-a-ride service, and passenger loads will be kept to an absolute minimum -- in most cases, one passenger at a time -- in order to minimize exposure. More information about the LaramieLink Dial-A-Ride, including instructions on how to use the TransLoc app, can be found here.

SafeRide service will be discontinued until further notice.

ADA Paratransit service will continue to operate on its regular schedule.

All Transportation Services vehicles are being regularly cleaned and disinfected between rides in an attempt to maintain a safe and healthy environment for passengers and drivers. Transit passengers are encouraged to observe Centers for Disease Control guidelines to protect themselves and others. This includes social distancing, washing your hands often and staying home if you’re sick.

Transportation Services will constantly evaluate the ongoing situation and will strive to resume regular transit service as quickly as possible.

Parking Changes

Parking permit restrictions will temporarily be lifted campuswide until further notice. All campus parking lots will be open to the campus community. Accessible disability parking spaces, “U” spaces, reserved parking spaces, yellow zones, fire lanes and no-parking area restrictions are all in effect.
