UW Wellness Center Receives Campus Prevention Network Seal of Prevention

The University of Wyoming’s Half Acre Recreation and Wellness Center has received the Campus Prevention Network (CPN) Seal of Prevention from Vector Solutions.

The CPN Seal of Prevention is awarded to institutions of higher education that have demonstrated leadership in programming focused on student issues. UW has received the award the past two years.

Recipients of the CPN Seal of Prevention are evaluated on their quality of digital prevention education on issues such as sexual assault, alcohol misuse, mental health and discrimination. The courses evaluated for the CPN Seal of Approval are managed at UW through the HOPES Program.

HOPES stands for Healthy Options for the Prevention and Education of Substances. The organization takes a more positive approach and focuses on harm reduction.

“The CPN award has been earned through effective campus and community collaborations and a comprehensive approach to create safer environments by empowering students with information to make informed decisions on their behavior,” says Aleah Biertzer, HOPES Program coordinator at Half Acre Recreation and Wellness Center. “We feel honored to have received this recognition for the two years it has been available.”

Vector Solutions’ CPN is committed to fostering safe, healthy and inclusive communities for students, faculty and staff. The organization works with more than 1,300 colleges, universities and national fraternities and sororities. Through evidence-based prevention tools, resources and insights, the program aims to create change around issues including sexual assault and harassment, diversity and inclusion, alcohol and other drugs, hazing and mental health.
