The University of Wyoming Alumni Association (UWAA) is offering the chance to win a 14-inch-high “Talk About Your Cowboy” bronze statue by D. Michael Thomas. The statue is valued at $3,500.

Raffle tickets may be purchased online at http://uw.uwyo.edu/raffle22 through Friday, April 22. Tickets are one for $20, three for $50 or seven for $100.

The winning raffle ticket for the “Talk About Your Cowboy” statue will be drawn Friday, April 22. The winner will be notified through the contact information listed on the ticket. The winner will receive the statue by in-person pickup or via mail within 30 days of the raffle drawing.

The raffle drawing will be held at the annual spring UWAA Brown and Gold Scholarship Reception. A portion of the proceeds from the raffle ticket sales will help fund the UWAA scholarship program.

The UWAA provides scholarships to Wyoming students, out-of-state students, and undergraduate and graduate students. Within these scholarships, awards have been added to support Wyoming community college transfer students, nontraditional students, U.S. veterans, and multicultural and Native American students. First-year (resident, nonresident and international) and transfer student recipients are selected based on their academic achievements at the time of admission to UW. Continuing student opportunities may be based on various qualifiers such as merit, financial need or specific student population.

Since its inception in 1906, the UWAA scholarship program has grown steadily through its coordination of the Scholarship Club, endowed scholarships and the UW license plate program. Each academic year, about $200,000 is disbursed to nearly 120 students, with awards ranging from one to four years.

“The support that our alumni and friends have continued to show each year for our association and scholarship program is amazing,” says UWAA Executive Director Jack Tennant. “Promoting access to the university remains at the forefront of the UWAA’s efforts to ensure success for our students, the university and the state.”
