‘PokeBot V4.02’ Technology Event Scheduled in UW Student Innovation Center April 28

April 25, 2022

A “Pokes doing strange things with technology” event is scheduled from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, April 28, at the University of Wyoming.

“PokeBot V4.02” will take place in the Coe Student Innovation Center (CSIC), located in Room 233 of Coe Library. The free public event will be offered both in person and through Zoom.

“‘Pokes doing strange things with technology’ is a hacker, maker, creative series that features innovative students, faculty, staff and the public,” says Jane Crayton, CSIC makerspace coordinator. “If something creative, unique and makerlike is happening in the Coe Student Innovation Center, then you can expect to learn more about it here.”

The event will feature Crayton and three guest presenters, live music and networking, with refreshments provided by the Center for Design Thinking.

Presenters are:

-- Crayton and Zane Scott, a UW computer science student from Bakersfield, Calif. They will discuss the IoT climate justice kit, which is an Arduino air quality index sign for safe air spaces.

-- Joseph Burton, a UW history student from Carthage, N.C., will discuss 3D printed helmets. A sci-fi Star Wars helmet also will be on display.

-- Dillon McCardell, a UW computer engineering student from Casper, will discuss the Aura lock, a facial recognition door lock.
