The University of Wyoming Soil Testing Laboratory will no longer be analyzing samples for the public beginning December 1, 2011. Declining sample numbers, an aging reporting system coupled with an anticipated loss of qualified laboratory personnel within the next year, and direct competition with other laboratories all contributed to the decision to discontinue this public service. However, industry, state, and federal partners who collaborate with a University of Wyoming scientist or specialist will be able to have samples analyzed by working through their collaborator. Moreover, the Colorado State University Soil Testing Laboratory has graciously agreed to accept samples from Wyoming residents. The Colorado State University Soil Testing Laboratory will send courtesy copies of soil testing reports to Wyoming County Extension Offices if the client indicates their county and state on the soil sample submission form.Links to information sheets and costs at the Colorado State University Soil Testing Laboratory can be found at http://www.soiltestinglab.colostate.edu.
