5th NIH IDeA Western Regional Conference
October 18-20, 2017
Snow King Resort, Jackson WY

Wyoming INBRE welcomes faculty, administrators, staff and students from the NIH IDeA Western Region (Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, and Wyoming) and NIH administrators and staff to the fifth biennial NIH IDeA Western Regional Conference. The conference will feature oral and poster scientific sessions, keynote talks, professional development workshops, and information sharing sessions with NIH officials.

Registration is now open for the 2017 NIH IDeA Western Regional Conference, October 18 - 20, in Jackson Hole, WY.

  • Early Bird (before September 1, 2017)

    • Faculty/Staff/Post-docs/Other- $300
    • Students- $250
    • Pre-conference Grant Writing Workshop add-on- $100
    • Pre-conference Bioinformatics Workshop add-on- $35
  • Late registration (after 9/1/2017)

    • Faculty/Staff/Post-docs/Other- $350
    • Students- $300
    • Grant Writing Workshop add-on- $125
    • Bioinformatics Workshop add-on- $50

CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS INLCUDE:
Keynote address: Dr. Jonathan Eisen, Univ. California- Davis Genome Center, "The Microbiome" (see YouTube video)

Research Partnerships and Mapping a Regional Agenda for Ending Native American Health Disparities- draft program, organizing committee, and call for abstracts

Talks, Updates, and Workshops:

  • Full day R01/R15 Grant Writing Workshop ($100 fee- includes $75 NIH writing workbook and lunch, Dr. Lauren Broyles, Grant Writers LLC)
  • 1/2 day Bioinformatics Workshop. Limited to 25 attendees. ($35 fee, activities)
  • Dent Earl, PhD, software engineer, Google Genomics -  “Life After the Academy”. WY INBRE Bioinformatics Core plenary speaker
  • Talks/panels for students, faculty, and staff including:
    • 15 science talks representing each of the 7 states in the Western IDeA Region
    • Dr. Rafael Luna- NRMN, "Scientific Storytelling"
    • Dr. Elizabeth Ofili- Director NRMN Research Resources and Outreach Core
