Dear Colleagues,

I hope you are enjoying the summer and finding some time to recharge while also preparing for the busy months ahead. It’s been inspiring to see the continued dedication of faculty and staff to our students during the summer term, and I’m grateful for your efforts this summer and in the future.

I want to share that Dr. Brent Pickett has submitted his resignation as Dean of UW Casper, effective July 31, 2025. He has taken another position outside of Wyoming.  We are deeply grateful for Brent’s many years of dedicated service and leadership at the University of Wyoming, and especially for his contributions in advancing UW Casper’s mission and impact. Please join me in thanking Brent for his work and wishing him the very best in his next chapter.

To ensure continuity, Academic Affairs will appoint an Acting Dean for UW Casper, effective August 1, 2025, while proceeding with the standard process to appoint an Interim Dean in accordance with UW Regulation 2-8. More details about this process will be shared in the coming weeks.

As you may know, HB0147 "Prohibition of Institutional Discrimination" was signed into law this year and took effect on July 1, 2025. To support our instructional faculty in understanding and complying with this legislation, Academic Affairs has developed a required training module. Faculty teaching summer courses extending beyond July 1 should have received a message earlier this week with details about accessing the training in WyoCloud. This training will also be required for all instructional faculty in the fall semester.

To access the training, log into WyoCloud, select My Profile > Learning and Development > My Learning, or search “HB147” in WyoCloud Learning. Additional resources, including faculty and student FAQs, are available on the Academic Affairs HB147 resource page here.  A special thank you to the Academic Affairs Working Group—Jim, Matt, Nevin, Michelle, and Brandon—for their dedication in developing these resources

As always, I appreciate your engagement and commitment to supporting our students and each other. Happy Fourth of July everyone!  Enjoy the long weekend!

Sincerely,

Scott
