Dear Colleagues,

Welcome back for a new academic year, and a special welcome to our new faculty joining us this fall! We are so glad you are here. As we settle into the semester's rhythm, I want to highlight several key resources and opportunities available to our faculty community. Each offers a meaningful way to stay connected, informed, and supported in your teaching, research, and service.

Please join us for the 2025 State of the University Address on Tuesday, September 16, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. in the Wyoming Union Center and East Ballroom. Remarks will be followed by a social hour with refreshments at Poke’s Pub from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. This is a valuable opportunity to hear from UW leadership about priorities for the upcoming year. If you cannot attend in person, the address will be livestreamed via WyoCast here

As a reminder, all faculty must complete the required HB147 training. This training ensures that instructional practices comply with state law and that all faculty have the necessary information and tools. Please check your WyoCloud account to access the training if you haven't already. You can find more details on our website here.

Two key planning tools are now accessible online: the Academic Calendar, which details term dates, breaks, and final exam schedules, and the Academic Administrative Calendar, which highlights important deadlines for academic processes, including promotion and tenure, reporting, and faculty-related submissions. We hope these are useful in semester planning.

UW is an Institutional Member of the NCFDD, providing all faculty, postdocs, and graduate students with free access to a nationally recognized set of professional development resources. Along with webinars, writing challenges, and mentoring programs, the NCFDD Community offers a members-only peer network for connection, advice, and support. To activate your free membership, visit ncfdd.org/join, select University of Wyoming from the dropdown menu, and register with your @uwyo.edu email address.

Alongside these national resources, UW’s own Ellbogen Center for Teaching and Learning (ECTL) offers excellent professional development in teaching and learning right here on campus. From teaching and learning academies and learning communities to on-demand workshops, drop-in instructor support, and comprehensive online resources, the ECTL supports faculty across all disciplines. I encourage anyone with a teaching role to explore and take advantage of these offerings.

I also want to give a big shout-out to our colleagues in the Research and Economic Development Division, who do so much to support faculty in pursuing funding and building collaborations. They’re a tremendous resource for all of us, and a great way to connect with their work is through Innovation Week, coming up September 2–5. This campus-wide celebration of research, entrepreneurship, and economic impact provides an opportunity to meet partners from across the state and gain inspiration for the year ahead.

Thank you for engaging with these resources and for the incredible work you are doing to support our students and university community.

With appreciation,

Anne
