Dear Colleagues,

Last Thursday, we had the pleasure of recognizing over 50 faculty members who were honored through the Reappointment, Tenure, and Promotion process. Please join me in congratulating these outstanding colleagues for their achievements and continued contributions to our students, scholarship, and the university community. You can find the complete list of faculty that was approved at the March Board of Trustees meeting here

As mentioned last week, we are still addressing the recent federal government announcement about the H-1B program, which has raised numerous important questions across campus. As shared in a separate email today, Global Engagement, Human Resources, and Legal are reviewing details and will host informational Q&A sessions for employees to learn more, ask questions, and share concerns. The first session will be tomorrow, Friday, October 3, at 11 a.m. via ZOOM (ID: 95561499500), with a brief survey available beforehand to help shape the discussion. Please submit questions for the session here

As you know, UW is currently conducting its presidential search. Campus listening sessions are now scheduled, and I encourage you to participate and share your perspectives. Information about the process and upcoming opportunities to engage is available here. A big thank you to the committee members who have agreed to serve on this important search.

Looking ahead, I encourage you to take a moment for yourself through Campus Recreation and the Wellness Center’s "Midday Breaks: Drop-In Meditation" sessions, which started Monday, September 29. These short, guided practices are a welcome chance to pause and recharge in the middle of the day, and details are available here

Homecoming is also upon us, and the Office of the Provost’s and Research and Economic Development’s third floor is getting into the spirit with door decorating as part of the festivities. In the coming days, we have the parade, pep rally, and a full slate of celebrations. You can find more information at the UW Alumni Association’s Homecoming site. Here are some photos from our floor in Old Main — with a big shout-out to our AA team, who coordinated and decorated!

I look forward to seeing many of you at the Homecoming events and game this weekend, or just out and about! Go Pokes!

Warmly,
Anne
