The University commissioned Dr. Wendy Stock, a Professor of Economics and Agricultural Economics at Montana State University, to conduct a technical study at UW to find out whether there are salary differences among UW employees that are not attributable to employment factors regarded by many as legitimate. Among these factors are educational qualifications, disciplinary expertise, job classification, performance, rank, and professional accomplishments. The concern is that UW's salary structure treat employees fairly, independent of gender, race, and ethnicity.
The .pdf files following describe the results she has found.
Measuring Salary Equality for Women at the University of Wyoming
by Wendy Stock, Nicole Ballenger, Anne Alexander, and Lisa Muller
Using updated data from the 2009-2010 academic year, M.S. student, Jeremiah Weichman further examined faculty salary equity at University of Wyoming for his thesis research in UW’s Department of Economics and Finance. The thesis research built on Professor Stock’s study by also considering factors that affect advancement in faculty rank, since differences in rank are among the most significant determinants of faculty salary differences.
