The most obvious study spot on campus is Coe Library. Not only is the library equipped with comfy chairs, couches, and endless tables
and computers, there are also a multitude of reservable study rooms available for students. These study rooms are the perfect way to get an empty, quiet
space to study for a test or to just work on homework. The other best spot to study
in the library is by the windows on a quiet study floor. Working by a window with
natural sunlight makes things seem more open and not as congested, and being on a
quiet study floor allows people to work in a silent working zone. The quiet study
floors are floors three, four and five, while floors one and two are group study floors
where talking is allowed.
The EERB is the newest building on campus and is packed full off places to dial down
on homework. This open building allows for a lot of natural sunlight to be beamed inside, while having an open layout
also makes things not claustrophobic. There are isolated booths, high-top tables,
several chairs and stools, with most of the tables being equipped with outlets to
charge phones, tablets, computers and other electronics. The EERB isn’t only for engineers
and has a space fit for anyone and everyone to study.
The COB is another great place for students to get some work done. While it’s not the most quiet place to study, the atrium has a large skylight and several tables, chairs, and couches that allow students to work in a huge, open space. The COB also has isolated study rooms for students or small groups to use all around the building.
The last great place for students to study in is the Enzi STEM Building. Like the
COB, it’s not the most distraction-free zone on campus, but everything is fairly spread
out and open. The Enzi STEM is another newer building on campus and has a lot of fun
couches and tables for students to get a chunk of their workload done. A bonus to
the Enzi STEM is that Einstein Bros. Bagels is located on the main floor, so it’s
easy to grab a cup of Joe or get a bite to eat during those long study sessions. Don't
forget your UW Dining Services punch card so you can earn a free drink!
We have several amazing coffee shops and eateries around town that offer free WiFi and cozy space to study. These spots are probably better for your homework and study groups as they're fairly noisy and can get distracting. So, save those final exam study session for the Coe Library, but head to downtown Laramie for a break from campus! These are a few of my favorites:
It may not seem like the most likely spot to cram for that next exam, but Wyoming offers some pretty amazing (and secluded) outdoor areas where you can hang your hammock and find some peaceful bliss while studying. Check out my friend Jeremy's post about the Top 10 Things to Do in Laramie for ideas on where to go.
Of course, weather can always be a challenge, but the sun shines a lot in Laramie!
If you're not feeling up for the drive out of town, Prexy's Pasture is located right on campus and offers plenty of granite boulders you can post up
at or some big spruce trees where you can sit in the shade and get ready for your
big test.
