Dr. Samantha Vandermeade

Dr. Samantha L. Vandermeade is an interdisciplinary scholar in the department of American
Cultural Studies at the University of Wyoming. Her research examines rhetorics of
belonging and citizenship, women and femininity, and racism and anti-racism, and grassroots
social movements in the 20th and 21st century United States. She has researched and
written about pro- and anti-immigrants' rights movements, feminist and antifeminist
movements, Indigeneity and place-based pedagogy, and U.S. rural cultures.
In addition to her work as a scholar and a researcher, Dr. Vandermeade also thoroughly enjoys teaching undergraduate and graduate courses at all levels. These courses include: AMST 2010: Introduction to American Studies; AMST 3600: Institutional Violence; AMST 4500: Wyoming, Race, and the Archive; and AMST 4610/5610: Rural Subcultures.
