The Department of Visual Arts offers coursework in ten different minors, ranging from Painting to Museum Studies.  Each minor is discipline specific and provides a strong and focused experience in the chosen area of study.  Students who are declared minors in the department (and not declared majors in the department) do not have to meet the ART 2000: Portfolio Review prerequisite for upper division studio courses.

Exceptions

Students with the following declared majors: B.A. in Studio Art, B.F.A. in Studio Art, and B.A. in Art Education:

  • Cannot minor in a specific studio discipline but,
  • May declare a minor in Art History and/or Museum Studies.

B.A. in Art History majors may have a minor in studio disciplines, and B.A. in Studio Art, B.F.A. in Studio Art, and B.A. in Art Education degree students may have a minor in Art History and/or Museum Studies.  B.F.A. in Visual Communication Design degree students may declare a minor in any department area or discipline.
Students who are declared minors in the department (and not declared majors in the department) do not have to meet the ART 2000: Portfolio Review prerequisite for upper division studio courses.
