Olin Levi Warner: The Indian Portraits

The seven medallions that comprise this collection are a part of a series of Indian portraits by Olin Levi Warner.
Olin Levi Warner (American, 1844-1896) is recognized for his bronze relief and bust portraits. Trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he became skilled in modeling and known for his sensitive depictions of his subjects.
In 1889, Warner traveled through the American Northwest Territory. He created a series of medallions that depicted chiefs of the Indian tribes of that region. The seven medallions that comprise this exhibition are part of this series of Indian portraits.
