Proudly holding the largest collection of artist Jon Schueler’s (American, 1916-1992) work in a US public institution, the UW Art Museum is excited to present the exhibition, Jon Schueler: Light in Process. Before delving into painting, Schueler piloted a B-17 bomber in World War II. The sky captivated him with the dichotomy of its beauty and the anxiety it produced. Combining this experience with his later training at the California School of the Fine Artsandregular sojourns to Scotland, Schueler developed his singular painting style. A second-generation Abstract Expressionist, his works express the light and movement of a changing sky, the light in process. Visit the Art Museum to experience these works in person.
Funded through the generosity of the Patricia R. Guthrie Special Exhibitions Gallery Endowment.
