As part of this year's Humanities Summit, Edward Larson will give a keynote titled “Declaring Independence: Why 1776 Matters” Friday, Mar 27, in the Arts and Sciences Auditorium from 4:00-5:30 pm.
Edward Larson, historian and legal scholar, now at Pepperdine, is a prolific writer and speaker. He won the Pulitzer Prize for his book Summer for the Gods: The Scopes Trial and America's Continuing Debate Over Science and Religion.” His background is in the history of science and his recent research includes a new book published this year by WW. Norton and Company, Declaring Independence: Why 1776 Matters. An audience Q&A and book signing by the author follows the presentation.
