UW Humanities Summit 2026

Join the University of Wyoming on March 26-27 for the 2026 Humanities Summit! This year's theme is "Humanities in Action 250."  The many synergies with USA 250 national and Wyoming-wide celebrations of the founding of the United States is a central focal point of this year’s HumSum to demonstrate “Humanities in Action” then, but also emphasizing an awareness of now as we forge the future of Humanities through interdisciplinary relationships all across UW, our state, and the nation.

About the Summit

The Summit will highlight the impact of the humanities at UW and beyond, exploring current developments and practical approaches in the field. The event will bring faculty, staff, and students together to discuss the future of humanities research and education at UW and to share ideas for strengthening the field. Participants will hear  rich panel discussions, experience poster and photo presentations, and learn from current and recently graduated UW students.

Don't miss this chance to be part of a conversation that will help further shape the role of the humanities in higher education. This event is free and open to the public.

Schedule of Events

The Humanities Summit (March 26–27, 2026) brings together faculty, students, and community members to explore the theme “Humanities in Action 250,” highlighting connections to national and Wyoming celebrations of the United States’ 250th anniversary. Events include keynote talks, panel discussions, performances, poster sessions, and exhibitions examining the role of the humanities in understanding the past and shaping the future. Programming features scholars and students from across the University of Wyoming and beyond, with topics ranging from the American Revolution and public humanities to literature, language, and interdisciplinary research. The summit also includes workshops, open houses on campus, and a closing keynote, and reception celebrating the humanities in action.
