Join the nation's leading minds at the University of Wyoming Humanities Summit! On October 8-9, 2024, the University of Wyoming College of Arts and Sciences will host a landmark event—the UW Humanities Summit. This national gathering promises to be a pivotal moment for scholars, educators, and advocates of the humanities.
The Summit will spotlight the transformative power of the humanities at UW and beyond, exploring groundbreaking developments and innovative approaches in the field. This event is a call to action for shaping the future of humanities research and education at UW. Together, we'll brainstorm strategic initiatives to elevate the humanities. This summit is a unique opportunity to engage with successful strategies from across the nation, focusing on securing external funding, enhancing opportunities for students, building strong graduate programs, and fostering collaborative networks both within and beyond the humanities.
Don't miss this chance to be part of a dynamic conversation that will help further define the role of the humanities in higher education. This event is free and open to the public. Register below and be part of this transformative experience.
This event is funded by the following University of Wyoming units: President’s Office, Provost’s Office, Research and Economic Development Division, Student Affairs, UW Libraries, Honors College, Modern and Classical Languages, College of Arts and Sciences, and School of Computing.
The first day of the summit will be national in scope, and feature thought leaders
from major national funding and research agencies (NEH, Mellon, the State Department,
the National Humanities Center) and directors of state and university humanities institutes
and centers. The second day will shift focus to local and regional themes, applying
national-level insights to humanities and outreach issues for UW and the state of
Wyoming, with invited public sector leaders and representatives from the Wyoming Humanities
Council, the UW Foundation, UW faculty, graduate and undergraduate humanities students,
alumni, and other Wyoming stakeholders.
With these topics on the table, and an array of thoughtful speakers in the house,
we hope that the humanities summit will be a forum for robust discussions that can
energize the humanities on our campus and also inspire guests as they engage in further
conversations nationally and at their home institutions. Register for this event below.
