Required Contacts Before Your Exit Interview
Before scheduling your exit interview, you must contact certain campus offices. Which offices apply to you depends on your individual circumstances (for example, whether you receive financial aid, live in campus housing, or hold an international student visa). The sections below explain who needs to contact each office and what information to ask for.
Student Financial Services (Required for All Students)
All students must contact Student Financial Services, regardless of whether they believe they are receiving financial aid. Before withdrawing, students must meet with Student Financial Services to discuss potential impacts on scholarships, loans, federal aid, or any other form of financial aid. Federal aid recipients will have their last date of academic engagement confirmed by each instructor. This process does take additional time and must be completed by Student Financial Services before federal aid returns can be calculated.
When you contact this office, you should ask:
- How an all-school withdrawal will affect your financial aid, scholarships, loans, or grants
- Whether you will need to repay any financial aid
- What charges or balances you may still be responsible for after withdrawing
- What documentation, if any, is required to complete your withdrawal

Housing (If You Live in On-Campus Housing)
This step applies only to students currently living in on-campus housing at the University of Wyoming. Students who live off campus do not need to complete this step. If you reside in a residence hall or university apartment, you must contact Residence Life/ Housing and Dining before finalizing your withdrawal to review how it will affect your housing and dining contract. You should also notify your Residence Coordinator (RC) to coordinate your transition and move-out process. Withdrawals typically require students to move out within 24 hours of being finalized, unless an extension is approved.

- How an all-school withdrawal will affect your housing contract
- Your move-out timeline
- Whether additional time to move out can be approved
- Any charges or refunds related to housing or meal plans

Law School (Required for All Law Students)
All University of Wyoming College of Law students must contact the Law School when considering withdrawal, regardless of the reason. Law students are required to speak with the appropriate Law School office to review how withdrawal will affect enrollment status, academic standing, and future plans
When you contact the Law School, you should ask:
- How withdrawing will affect your Law School enrollment and academic record
- Any steps required by the Law School to complete your withdrawal
- Options for returning in the future or transferring credit
- Deadlines, forms, or documentation needed

International Students and Scholars (If You Are an International Student)
This step applies only to students studying at UW on a visa. Domestic students do not need to complete this step. International students must contact International Students and Scholars (ISS) prior to withdrawing to review potential immigration implications. Withdrawal may affect visa status and SEVIS reporting requirements, so it is critical to consult with ISS before finalizing your decision
