Teaching Standard:
By attaching a microphone to an Arduino, you open up a new world of things to try.
• Measure the sound intensity - Turn on a red light if it gets too loud!
• Give sound commands: two claps turns on a light, one clap turns it off (anyone remember “The Clapper”?)
• Measure and display the frequency content of music
• Make a tuner for a guitar
This module shows how to use the Adafruit electret microphone to measure frequency. A companion module explores loudness.
The presentation material and the code can be downloaded at SoundPitch.
Additionally, a more advanced form of the Sound Pitch project can be downloaded at SoundPitchPlus.
