The 2018 Engineering Summer Program for Teachers (ESP4T) is a weeklong professional development workshop in Laramie, Wyo., focusing on the use of Arduino and Raspberry Pi as teaching tools to engage K-12 students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Participants in both sessions will have the opportunity to learn about the breadth of academic and career opportunities available to their students in engineering and applied science. Educators will come away with the necessary skills for cross-curricular course integration. Participants will receive a UW stipend, UW credit and/or PTSB credit. Workshop Team:

We’re a group of professors, graduate students and undergrad students in UW’s Electrical and Computer Engineering department, the UW Science and Mathematics Teaching Center, and UW’s College of Education. In addition to instructing teachers in new STEM resources that they can use to introduce technology and engineering subjects into the K-12 learning system, our goal is to provide an on-going resource for teachers who use these technologies in their classroom.

Faculty:

  • Suresh Muknahallipatna, Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering

  • Robert F. Kubichek, Associate Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering

  • Andrea C. Burrows, Associate Professor, Secondary Education
