Nomination Criteria
Two speakers will be chosen, one for fall semester and one for spring semester. The Faculty Senate Speaker Series is an award established by the Faculty Senate and funded by Academic Affairs. The award carries an honorarium of $1,750 and requires a public lecture on the UW campus in Laramie, which will be broadcast via WyoCast. Nominations are open to all academic personnel, regardless of tenure-track status. The following should be included in the nomination packet (to be sent electronically):
- Nomination letter (authored by self, peer, chair or dean), stressing ability to address a general audience and topic of broad general interest;
- A statement from the nominee giving the title and an abstract of the proposed lecture;
- Nominee’s current CV.
Faculty Speakers will be chosen based on:
- An exemplary record in scholarship;
- A record of successfully engaging in at least three of the following elements of the University’s mission: teaching, research or creative activity, professional service, extension, and academic service;
- A demonstrated ability to address a general audience in a stimulating and coherent manner;
- A topic of potentially broad general interest.
The Selection Committee will be comprised of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee, which may delegate the selection to the Faculty Recognition and Development Committee. The deadline for receiving nominations for the academic year are October 17th.
