KALEIDOSCOPE FASHION SHOW

Family & Consumer Sciences

The annual spring fashion show at the University of Wyoming is a vibrant, high‑energy celebration of creativity where students don’t just learn about event planning—they live it. Our Fashion Show Event Planning class (FCSC 2210) in our Design, Merchandising, and Textiles major, incorporates experiential learning to produce the show, bringing together original student designs, local retailers, professional‑level production, and a packed house of community supporters. Students take the lead on everything from concept development and model coordination to staging, lighting, and promotion, gaining hands-on learning expertise that feels more like running a real industry event than completing a class assignment. It’s an unforgettable showcase of talent, teamwork, and innovation—and a powerful way for future students to see how their ideas can come to life on the runway.

I WANT TO DO THIS!

Getting involved in the University of Wyoming’s annual fashion show is an energizing, all‑hands‑on‑deck experience where students step directly into the roles that make real events happen. The production of the show is open to anyone in the Fashion Show Event Planning class, and students can choose the area that fits their interests—designer coordination, model coordination, staging, lighting, marketing, sponsorship, or backstage production. Throughout the semester, students collaborate as a professional event team, shaping the show’s theme, building the runway environment, and managing every detail leading up to the big night. It’s a chance to build confidence, gain industry‑ready skills, and see your work come alive in front of a live audience.

CONSIDER A CAREER IN FASHION

Our Apparel Design major is an important link between your creative inspirations and your future career. Fashion, design, merchandising, and textiles play a powerful role in shaping culture and driving social movements because they reflect—and often challenge—the values, identities, and stories of a community. Clothing and visual expression have long been tools for signaling community identity and  celebrating heritage and individuality. As trends spread and designs evolve, fashion becomes a shared language that can spark conversation, shift public perception, and inspire identity across generations.
