Dr. Farida Begum is an assistant professor of history at the University of Wyoming. She is a historian of modern South Asia and gender, focusing on Bengal. Her current book manuscript examines the everyday friendships between Hindu and Muslim women in twentieth-century Bengal, exploring shifts and continuities in the late colonial and post colonial periods. Dr. Begum holds a PhD in History from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and undergraduate degrees in History and Asian and Middle Eastern Cultures from Barnard College, Columbia University.
