J-1 Short Term Scholar
Professors, research scholars and other individuals with similar education or accomplishments travel to the United States on a short-term (six months or less) visit to lecture, observe, consult, train or demonstrate special skills at research institutions, museums, libraries, post-secondary accredited academic institutions or similar types of institutions.
Short-Term Scholar Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a professor, research scholar, or someone with similar education and or experience in their country of residence;
- May not have participated in a previous J-1 Short-Term Scholar appointment in the US with the same objective;
- Undergraduate students are not eligible for the Short-Term Scholar category.
Duration of Participation – Six (6) Months, No Minimum
The maximum period of program participation is continuous and begins with the initial program start date printed on the Form DS-2019 and ends six months from that date.
