Paul Stock (1894-1972) was born in Florence, Colorado. He started in the oil business as a roughneck at 15. One biographer says he was hard-nosed, hard-playing, hard-working, and hard-living. He had a kind and generous heart, a western-style sense of humor, and a great deal of affection for children.
He organized the Paul Stock Foundation in 1957 to help students get a higher education.
This year, the Paul Stock Foundation has established a $1.4 million endowment for scholarships and programs at the University of Wyoming, including annual support for the Division of Kinesiology and Health.
