About Dr. Pathirannehelage
Heshan is a Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Wyoming. He completed his Ph.D. in Mathematics at the University of Florida in 2023. Prior to joining UW, he held visiting positions at Sam Houston State University and Willamette University in Oregon.
His research interests lie at the intersection of discrete probability and analysis, with a focus on functional inequalities and extremum problems involving convexity. His recent work has focused on the connection between coalescent and branching processes, particularly phase transition phenomena in these settings, as well as discrete log-concave distributions with applications to convex geometry and information theory.
In addition to his mathematics research, he is interested in pedagogy and the history of mathematics.
