The University of Wyoming’s Half Acre Recreation and Wellness Center is open with limited hours and modified services as the university transitions to Phase 4 of its fall semester.
New hours -- effective through Jan. 24 -- will be from 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday. The facility will be closed during weekends, the Thanksgiving break and during UW’s winter closure. The updated facility hours can be found here.
“The university has determined that, during Phase 4 of the return plan, Campus Recreation can welcome back currently enrolled students and employed faculty and staff enrolled in the bridge testing program on campus,” says Lena Newlin, Half Acre Recreation and Wellness Center assistant director. “At this time, because of restrictions within the on-campus testing programs, board retired members, cooperating agency members, spouses, dependents and other guests will not have access to Half Acre.”
Completion of a COVID-19 test and access through the UW COVID Pass program are required before using the Half Acre facilities. Face coverings are required at all times.
In order to comply with the Wyoming public health order on public spaces and UW policies, all patrons are required to make reservations for designated workout times in Half Acre. Reservations will be accepted for the pool, group fitness classes and the Outdoor Program rental center.
“The Recreational Sports Office and the Wellness Center will be closed but will offer robust programming virtually to promote health and well-being,” Newlin says.
