Applications for Daniels Fund Faculty Fellowship Program at UW Due May 1

Applications are now being accepted for the two-year Daniels Fund Faculty Fellowship Program offered through the University of Wyoming’s Center for Principle-Based Leadership and Ethics (PBLE). The deadline to apply is Wednesday, May 1.

Supported by the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative (DFEI), the faculty fellowships are for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 academic years at UW. Each academic year, about five UW faculty or professional staff members are selected for the two-year fellowship, which includes a $2,500 annual stipend -- or $5,000 over the entire fellowship period.

“Fellows play an important role in helping PBLE advance the mission of the DFEI’s Collegiate Program, which is to engage students and university stakeholders through principle-based ethics education,” says Chris Haller, PBLE’s director. “This will help to prepare them to make ethical decisions in their personal and professional lives.”

Haller says the fellowship program is grounded in the foundational belief that ethics is an important discussion topic in all disciplines and that timeless ethical principles, such as integrity, transparency, respect and fairness, when internalized, can guide individuals toward ethical decisions.

Applicants are asked to describe their proposed projects relating to a new learning instrument in their respective coursework; provide a detailed explanation of how the DFEI principles would be integrated into the proposal; provide the project’s timeline; and describe how the instrument’s impact could be evaluated.

All UW faculty, staff and administrative personnel are eligible for the program. Interested individuals may submit proposals here. A selection committee will review the applicants’ proposals, and awards will be announced Friday, May 10.

In the first year, selected Daniels Fund Fellows will attend an orientation in August as part of a retreat, followed by four meetings throughout the academic year to discuss their projects’ implementation and impact. Fellows will present their projects at the August retreat the following year.

In the second year of the program, Daniels Fund Fellows will again meet quarterly to discuss their projects and then present final results at the August retreat to the incoming Fellows and PBLE committee.
