The search for the University of Wyoming’s next president is officially underway.

A position profile and job description have been completed and posted online, and advertising is being placed on key higher education platforms by UW’s search consultant, Parker Executive Search, which is accepting applications and nominations.

The presidential position profile, which includes information about job duties and expectations -- as well as the university, along with its opportunities and challenges -- may be viewed here. The materials were informed by a survey and listening sessions that took place in late September and early October.

“We appreciate the input we received from UW’s various constituencies, including the university’s faculty and staff,” says Trustee Carol Linton, who chairs the presidential search committee. “We’re excited to now move forward and secure a deep, talented pool of candidates from which to choose the next leader of Wyoming’s university.”

Seventeen people representing a wide range of interests comprise the search committee, which held its initial meeting Oct. 9 and will recommend about six candidates for consideration by UW’s Board of Trustees. The board’s intent is to have a president selected to succeed President Ed Seidel when he steps down June 30, 2026.

The Board of Trustees has approved a search timeline that may be viewed here. The search committee is scheduled to interview about 10 candidates in early March before recommending semifinalists for further interviews by the Board of Trustees later that month. Following those interviews, trustees plan to select three finalists for further interviews, on-campus meetings and public presentations, likely in late March or early April. A vote of the full board is expected to name UW’s next president in early April.

This information and more are available on the presidential search website, www.uwyo.edu/presidential-search, which will be updated with public information as it is available. The proceedings between now and the announcement of finalists are confidential.

In addition to Linton, UW trustees on the search committee are Mike Greear, of Worland; Michelle Sullivan, of Sheridan; and Tom Walters, of Casper.

Members of the committee from the UW community are Rob Godby, the Faculty Senate chair and an associate professor in the Department of Economics; Julie Hill, dean of the College of Law; Dan McCoy, director of the Jay Kemmerer Wyoming Outdoor Recreation, Tourism and Hospitality Institute; Chad Baldwin, associate vice president for marketing and communications; Paula Medina, of Cody, president of the Associated Students of UW; and Doug Stark, of Converse County, president of the UW Foundation Board of Directors.

Other members of the committee are Paige Fenton-Hughes, of Cheyenne, interim executive director of the Wyoming Community College Commission; Jim Neiman, of Hulett, president of Neiman Enterprises Inc.; Diane Shober, of Cheyenne, executive director of the Wyoming Office of Tourism; Sue Sommers, of Pinedale, a painter, book artist and printmaker; Marissa Taylor, of Uinta County, business manager of the Lonetree Ranch; Dave True, of Casper, executive partner of True Companies; and Peter Wold, of Casper, owner of Wold Oil Properties Inc.
