For the first time, the University of Wyoming will participate in Love Data Week, an international celebration promoting good data practices Monday, Feb. 9, through Friday, Feb. 13. The weeklong series will feature workshops, speakers and hands-on activities highlighting data tools and showcasing research from across campus.
Held annually during Valentine’s Day week, Love Data Week encourages collaboration regarding data management, sharing, preservation and reuse. What began in 2016 as a small series of events at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis has grown into a global initiative involving universities, nonprofit organizations, government agencies and industry partners.
Love Data Week’s 2026 theme is “Where’s the Data?” The theme invites participants to consider how data is collected, stored, accessed and preserved.
“This is UW’s first year participating in Love Data Week,” says Esther Perez, STEM digital scholarship librarian. “We’re excited to bring together researchers, students, faculty and staff from across disciplines to explore how data shapes their work.”
Love Data Week events are open to the UW community and include workshops for all skill
levels, research presentations, creative activities and open houses. Proposals for
student research poster presentations and zine submissions are being accepted through Feb. 1.
