Love Data Week is an international celebration of data that takes place every year during the week of Valentine’s Day and aims to promote good data practices across the community of data enthusiasts and to encourage collaboration around research data management, sharing, preservation, and reuse.
What began in 2016 as a set of data-themed events organized at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis has since grown into a global celebration with participation from organizations including universities, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and corporations.
Every year has a theme, and for Love Data Week 2026, happening February 9-13, the theme will be “Where’s the data?” – a way to get people thinking about data’s journey from collection through storage and preservation.
2026 will be the first year the University of Wyoming participates in International Love Data Week, which will include a host of events throughout the week, including workshops, speakers, and fun data-themed activities. The week’s events will highlight various aspects of data and data-related tools and showcase research being done across campus.
How you can Participate:
Speaker Presentations:
We’re looking for participants (faculty, staff, graduate students) to share an overview of their current research and speak to its connection to data as a broad concept—from what data is needed to answer your research question to where it comes from and how it’s collected and analyzed.
Presentations should be kept within 30 minutes and directed toward a general audience.
When: Tuesday, February 10, from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm
Where: Wyoming Union Family Room (Union 212)
Submissions Deadline: December 15th. Limited availability.
If you’re interested, please email Esther Perez with your college/department and a short description of your presentation topic.
Student Poster Presentations:
Are you an undergraduate or graduate student working on an interesting research project or otherwise using data in an interesting way? Are you looking for a space to share what you’ve done or to practice your presentation skills? Show us where the data is by signing up for our Love Data Week poster presentation!
When: Tuesday, February 10, from 4-5pm
Where: Wyoming Union Family Room (Union 212)
Submission Deadline: February 1st
If you’re interested, please email Esther Perez with your college/department and a short description of your presentation/poster topic.
Data Zine Entry:
As part of Love Data Week, UW Libraries will release a community-driven, data-themed zine open to all UW students, faculty, and staff. What is a zine, you ask? Read on to learn more!
Has your data ever ‘gone off the rails’? Or do you have a creative way to visualize or tell a story about data? We want to hear from you.
Consider submitting your original data-related story or data-inspired artwork to our Data Zine! The week’s theme is “Where’s the Data?” Feel free to interpret it in a way that inspires you.
Digital Submissions: Zine Entry Submission Form
Physical Submissions: Drop off your work at the Coe Library front desk, the Geology

Submission deadline: February 1st
Everyone who submits will be entered into a raffle. One participant will receive a library-branded crossbody bag and a copy of Stolen Sharpie Revolution, courtesy of UW Libraries.
