UW Libraries Rolls Out ‘Can’t Find It’ Suite of Borrowing Services
Published September 30, 2026
As the fall semester gets underway, University of Wyoming Libraries is encouraging students, faculty and staff to use its Can’t Find It services, a collection of tools designed to simplify access to materials held both within and beyond the libraries’ collections.
The Can’t Find It webpage brings together Hold for Me, Scan for Me and Borrow Beyond
UW, making it easier for patrons to request and receive the resources they need.
“The goal of this suite of services is to demystify the process of requesting items
inside and outside of UW’s collection,” says Jessica Rardin, chair of public services.
“We want to make it easier for the UW community to get the resources they need.”
Hold for Me lets patrons request items from UW Libraries’ physical collections; staff
members retrieve the materials and hold them for pickup at the location of the patron’s
choice.
Scan for Me provides scans of chapters, excerpts or other sections of library materials,
delivered by email. All requests are subject to applicable copyright regulations.
For materials not owned by UW Libraries, Borrow Beyond UW connects patrons to the
library’s Prospector and Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services, with guidance on how to
request materials and what’s available through each service. Prospector is a regional
catalog that connects academic and public libraries throughout Wyoming and Colorado,
offering books, e-books, media, maps and other materials; this service is not available
to distance learners and educators, who are directed to ILL services. ILL connects
patrons to libraries worldwide, providing access to articles and electronic resources
that may not be available through UW Libraries’ collections.
All Can’t Find It services are available now to UW students, faculty and staff. To
