UW Fall Fest & Safe Treat Brings Campus, Laramie Community Together Oct. 22
Published October 08, 2026
The University of Wyoming will bring together a longtime Halloween tradition and a
new campus celebration when Fall Fest & Safe Treat takes over campus Thursday, Oct. 22.
The free event will offer an afternoon and evening of fall activities, games, food
and trick-or-treating for UW students, faculty and staff as well as families and community
members from throughout Laramie.
“Safe Treat has been a special tradition for UW and the Laramie community for years,
and Fall Fest gives us an opportunity to build on that tradition and create an even
broader celebration,” says Nycole Courtney, UW’s vice president for student affairs.
“We want this to be an event where students, employees, families and community members
can all come together and enjoy fall on campus.”
Fall Fest begins at 2 p.m. on Prexy’s Pasture, where attendees can enjoy seasonal
activities designed to bring the campus and Laramie communities together. Festivities
will include crafts and games, a fall-themed photo area, a pumpkin catapult, s’mores,
carriage rides, cornhole and other outdoor games. Fall Fest activities will continue
until 7 p.m.
At 5 p.m., the celebration will expand to include Safe Treat, UW’s popular annual
Halloween tradition for Laramie children and families. UW-registered student organizations
will provide trick-or-treating and activities inside the Wyoming Union, with additional
activities in the Washakie Center Shoshone Room. Safe Treat continues until 8 p.m.
By combining Fall Fest with Safe Treat, UW is expanding a familiar community tradition
into a larger celebration with activities for people of all ages. Students can spend
the afternoon enjoying Fall Fest on Prexy’s Pasture before families arrive for Safe
Treat, while community members are invited to take part in the full slate of activities
throughout the afternoon and evening.
Costumes are welcome and encouraged, but they’re not required.
Fall Fest & Safe Treat is free and open to the public. Attendees can come for an afternoon
of fall activities on Prexy’s Pasture, stay for trick-or-treating and Halloween festivities,
or take part in both.
