State, national and international media frequently feature the University of Wyoming and members of its community in stories. Here is a summary of some of the recent coverage:
UW is among the list of the National Academy of Inventors’ (NAI) top 100 universities in the U.S., placing at No. 91 on the “Top 100 U.S. Universities Granted U.S. Utility Patents” list. According to UW’s release, published by Oil City News, UW’s latest inclusion on the list comes after the university was designated as an R1 (Research Level 1) institution.
College Sports Network featured Ken Pomeroy, a UW graduate, who created the college basketball website and statistical archive KenPom. Pomeroy -- college basketball’s numbers guru -- has a website used by every men’s basketball team in the U.S. It includes his college basketball ratings and statistics for every NCAA men’s Division I basketball team. Pomeroy studied meteorology at UW.
UW Extension’s office in Buffalo will offer a class on home food preservation next month, according to Sheridan Media. The news outlet also interviewed Chad Baldwin, UW associate vice president for communications and marketing, about the School of Energy Resources’ selection of faculty-led proposals related to nuclear-related research.
The Powell Tribune republished an article that focused on calving conditions and what ranchers can expert in cattle markets this spring. Shelby Rosasco, a UW Extension beef specialist, was quoted in the article.
UW’s School of Energy Resources is launching nuclear energy certificate programs for undergraduate and graduate students this fall. Oil City News published part of UW’s release on the announcement.
KNEB Radio, in Scottsbluff, Neb., published UW’s release noting that UW Science Initiative Roadshow representatives recently collaborated with the Goshen County Public Library’s early literacy intervention team in Torrington to bring a hands-on STEM lesson related to animals and habitats to 15 pre-kindergarten students.
UW’s Extension Sheep Task Force was featured in a Northern Ag Network piece highlighting the organization’s statewide programming, including supporting the Wyoming Wool Growers Association’s Wyoming Sheep and Wool Festival this summer in Buffalo.
