Intercultural Competence

Engaging thoughtfully and fluidly across cultures begins with one’s own self-awareness. With this learning objective, you will deepen your cultural agility through a mix of three introspective courses in which you learn about others while reflecting upon your own self in relation to others. The goal is for you to build your capacity to shift perspective and behavior around relevant cultural differences. To complete this section, you will complete 1 or 2 introspective classes and you will participate in a Level 3, 4, or 5 cultural competence experience, which you can find in SOAR. Some example courses are:

  • ANTH 1200: Cultural Anthropology
  • PHIL 1000: Introduction to Philosophy
  • INST 1250: Introduction to International Relations
  • SOC 2350: Race and Ethnic Relations

And choose 1 additional electives from the above list or these below:

  • SOC 3640: Social Inequality
  • PHIL 2420: Critical Thinking
  • WMST 3710: Gender and Humanities
  • SOC 3110: Self and Society
