Dr. Williams-Woodward

As an Extension Plant Pathologist, I direct the UW Plant Diagnostic Laboratory and conduct applied research on disease identification and management for agronomic and horticultural crops. The Plant Diagnostic Laboratory uses microscopy, culturing, serology, and molecular tools to identify pathogens on plant samples. We also provide disease management recommendations and work collaboratively with county extension educators to help Wyoming producers and homeowners. My applied research is primarily on managing diseases affecting forages, sugar beets, dry beans, and grass seed. I also have extensive experience working in ornamental plant production, urban landscapes, controlled environmental agriculture, forestry, and Christmas trees in my previous employment as an extension plant pathologist at the University of Georgia.

My other main responsibility is teaching undergraduate and graduate plant pathology courses. I am particularly interested in teaching plant disease diagnostics and including students in the UW Plant Diagnostic Laboratory.
