STEM Campus Visits

The Roadshow offers STEM visits to the UW campus that link with your learning goals for students. Our customized space in the new Science Initiative Building, The STEM Sandbox, features a 25-30 seating capacity student-centered location to bring your students to the University of Wyoming for a hands-on, interactive STEM experience designed just for them. SI Roadshow on-campus visits connect K–12 classrooms with UW scientists and activities, helping students see themselves as STEM learners and future problem-solvers.

What You Can Expect

  • Hands-on, inquiry-based STEM activities
  • Interaction with UW undergraduate and graduate students
  • Exposure to real campus spaces and scientific tools
  • Age-appropriate facilitation for early childhood, elementary, middle, or high school students
  • A welcoming environment that encourages questions, creativity, and confidence
  • Our goal is to make campus feel accessible, exciting, and inspiring, especially for students who may not yet see college as part of their future.

STEM Campus Visit Options

All STEM Campus Visits are customized for times, topic, and interest, however here are some possible options for visits.

CURAted Campus Visits

Our CURAted Campus Visits are thoughtfully designed experiences that immerse students in a specific STEM topic through engaging, age-appropriate activities. Each visit blends hands-on learning, interaction with UW students and scientists, and time in authentic campus spaces such as labs, classrooms, or learning centers. These visits are ideal for teachers looking for a ready-to-go experience that aligns with classroom learning and sparks student curiosity. These visits are a collaboration with the Wyoming NASA Space Grant Consortium (CURA: Curated University Research Adventures – Wyoming NASA Space Grant Consortium).

Topic-Customized Visits

Looking for something that is not a full day experience? We also offer topic-customized 30 minute to 2 hour visits tailored to your students’ interests, grade level, and learning goals. Whether you’re exploring pollinators, human health, energy, or another STEM theme, our team will work with you to build an activity that fits your curriculum and time on campus.

WYOSTEM 360 Visits

WYOSTEM 360 is a multi-day, immersive STEM experience designed for high school classrooms seeking deeper, longer-lasting engagement with the University of Wyoming. Unlike single-day campus visits, WYOSTEM 360 connects learning across settings and time including options to pair an extended UW campus visit with a follow-up Digging Deeper Inquiry Day in your classroom.

Students begin with a one-and-a-half–day, overnight visit to the UW campus, where they participate in hands-on activities, explore research labs, interact with university students and scientists, and experience campus life. These visits are topic-customized to align with classroom curriculum, state standards, and student interests.

As an additional option, weeks to months later, the experience can continue back at your school. During the Digging Deeper Inquiry Day, UW students and faculty travel to your classroom to build on the concepts, questions, and excitement sparked during the campus visit, supporting deeper inquiry, critical thinking, and real-world application.

WYOSTEM 360 is designed to be a gateway experience, not a one-time field trip. By sustaining relationships, reinforcing learning, and removing financial and logistical barriers, the program helps students see college, STEM careers, and the University of Wyoming as accessible and achievable. General flyers and example visits can be found here: WYOSTEM 360

STEM-ology Series

STEM-ology events are public facing opportunities for regional participation in STEM from all ages. Offered 6 times throughout an academic year, each month the series features a new STEM theme with Toddler Tuesday, Senior Science Friday, and STEM Saturday programming. STEM-ology programming is a collaboration with the Wyoming NASA Space Grant Consortium (STEM-ology: Monthly Themed STEM Engagements – Wyoming NASA Space Grant Consortium).

Toddler Tuesday events are where little ones can explore the world through hands-on activities and sensory play. Each session is designed to engage toddlers in a fun and interactive way, sparking curiosity and building foundational skills with a caregiver. Interested families can RSVP here: Qualtrics Survey | Qualtrics Experience Management

Senior Science Fridays offer a fun and engaging way for older adults to explore the wonders of science! Each month features a new theme with hands-on activities and discussions tailored to spark curiosity and foster lifelong learning in a welcoming, interactive environment. Interested seniors can RSVP here: Qualtrics Survey | Qualtrics Experience Management or via phone at 307-766-4186.

Science Saturday is a fun-filled morning of STEM designed for all ages! Each month brings a new theme, where families can engage together in hands-on activities, experiments, and challenges. It’s the perfect way to spend a Saturday learning and exploring as a family! These events do not require an RSVP, however check-in runs from 10-10:15am on event days and full activities run from 10:30-12pm.
