Bridge Program

The Bridge Scholars Program is a competitive program for graduating Upward Bound or Upward Bound Math-Science Seniors. It provides the opportunity to live in the University of Wyoming dorms and take up to eight credit hours of Summer classes. Room & board, tuition, student fees, and books and supplies will be fully payed for by Upward Bound. 

 

The Bridge Scholars Program is an educational opportunity intended to:

  • Introduce first semester college freshmen to college level coursework and life in a college community
  • Enable recipients to experience the demands of college coursework and develop the skills necessary to excel in college
  • Afford participants the guidance of college retention specialists and UB/UBMS personnel to assist in the transition from high school to college-level classes
  • Allow scholars to earn college credit which is paid for by the UB/UBMS programs
  • Reward outstanding students while allowing them the opportunity to be a positive role model for academic and personal achievement to Pre-Bridge participants. 

Eligibility

  • Upward Bound or Upward Bound Math Science Student
  • Graduating with a high school diploma in Spring 2026
  • Successfully completed at least one UB/UBMS summer program with a grade of C or higher in all classes
  • Applied and been accepted for admission to the University of Wyoming for the summer 2026 session
  • Have applied and been accepted for admission to a college or university for the fall 2026 semester
  • In good standing with the UB/UBMS Program
  • A cumulative High School GPA of 3.00

Frequently asked questions

No. You have to be attending a university or college in fall of 2026, but it does not have to be the University of Wyoming.

Bridge Scholars are allowed to work part-time jobs, but if your work responsibilities interfere with your work as a Bridge Scholar you will be expected to resign from your job. 

Bridge Scholars get a stipend of $30 every two weeks for the length of their summer classes. 

As a bridge scholar you must maintain a GPA of 2.0. 

Yes. You will get to choose your own classes with help from Upward Bound coordinators. However, any changes to courses after that will have to be approved by UB/UBMS.
