weekly basis. Here is a recap of this week’s stories.
Baker Hughes Rig Counts
Baker Hughes reports the following rig counts actively exploring for oil or natural gas.
- U.S. rig count is down 4 rigs from last week to 1,047 rigs, with oil down 4 to 853
and gas rigs unchanged at 194
- The U.S. rig count is up 69 rigs from last year’s count of 978, with oil rigs up 54
and gas rigs up 15
- The Wyoming rig count remains at 37
- Colorado’s rig count has gone down 1 to 34
- New Mexico is down to 108 rigs this week
- North Dakota is remains the same at 57 rigs
- Texas has gone down to 508 rigs from last week’s 509
Opening Prices from Bloomberg Energy on February 22
- West Texas Intermediate (WTI) opened at $56.84, up from last weeks $54.48
- Brent Crude opened at $67.96, up from last week
- Natural gas opened at $2.70, slightly more than last weeks $2.57
